Organised by the prestigious magazine Global Water Intelligence, the event takes place in Madrid on 24 and 25 April. ACCIONA Agua will be a Gold Sponsor and take part in various roundtable sessions, including oneon financing water and desalination projects in the digital era, among others.
ACCIONA Agua will participate for the 11th consecutive year at the Global Water Summit, the most important trade event for the water sector organised by the magazine Global Water Intelligence, which this year takes place in Madrid on 24 and 25 April.
Under the theme of “Intelligent Synergies”, the Summit will explore the synergies between the latest financial and technological instruments and the solutions that these can offer the water sector.The event will examine the links and models for cooperation between the different public and private entities involved in the water cycle and the latest digital tools available in the sector.
The Global Water Summit will bring together 150 speakers and more than 600 professionals from the sector,from 64 countries,representing companies and the stakeholders whose decisions influence how they are managed.
ACCIONA Agua will be a Gold Sponsor at this edition and one of the most important companies at the event, taking an extremely active role in the various panels and discussions.
On Monday 24 April, the first day of the Summit, José Díaz-Caneja, general manager of ACCIONA Agua, will take part in the session entitled“Financing Industrial Water”(4:00-5:00pm)which will examine the latest developments and financing mechanisms for financing water projects in the industrial sector.
On the morning of the same day (11:00am-12:30pm) Jorge Juan Malfeito, R&D Manager at ACCIONA Agua, will take part in the fast-moving roundtable sessions in which each expert addresses a table of six or seven people about a specific subject.Malfeito will lead on the topic of “Desalination in the Digital World”.
The following day, Tuesday 25 April, Ignacio López Mier will head up the roundtable session entitled “Wastewater Management for Latin American Megacities”(10:45am-12:15pm). The speakers include the Director General for Water from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and the Environment, Liana Ardiles.
The Global Water Intelligence Awards, which recognise companies and projects that have made a significant contribution to the sector over the last year, will also be presented during the event.This year ACCIONA Agua has been nominated in two categories – “Water Company of the Year” and “Municipal Desalination Plant of the Year” for the Ras Abu Fontas A3 plant.
This plant, located in Al Wakra (Qatar), has a desalination capacity of 164,000 m3/day and represents a genuine milestone in the world of desalination as it is the first time that reverse osmosis technology has been used on a large-scale in this country.
ACCIONA Agua has won various awards in the last few years at the Global Intelligence Water Awards, including “Water Company of the Year” in 2010 and 2013.Last year it was declared “Desalination Company of the Year 2015”for its achievements in the desalination sector, including its rapid establishment and consolidation in the Middle East through the introduction of reverse osmosis technology.
