Construction of the La Pradera pumping station, being undertaken by ACCIONA in Guayaquil (Ecuador) is now 97.5% complete.
These works, awarded to ACCIONA by the municipal drinking water and sewerage company of Guayaquil, form part of the project entitled “Universal development of the sewerage and waste water treatment structure of the south system of the city of Guayaquil, waste water treatment plant and its supplementary components”.
The project will help to modernise the current treatment network in Ecuador’s largest city through the Universal Sewerage Development programme that will serve one million people that live between the central and southern parts of the city, benefiting nearly one third of the population.
The new pumping station will be equipped to handle flows of up to 6.4 m³ per second.
ACCIONA is currently finalising the last civil engineering works (the underground networks and the hard landscaping), the mechanical assembly works and the electrical installations.
The different testing phases of the installations will begin in the coming days in order to meet the scheduled completion date at the end of September.
The La Pradera pumping station has financing from the European Investment Bank and is being constructed by ACCIONA through its water business under a turnkey format. The total estimated investment for the project is $25 million (around €23 million).
