Aqualia and Caritas Española join forces to improve living conditions of the most underprivileged

Aqualia and Cáritas Española recently signed a cooperation agreement whereby the former will support Cáritas initiatives aimed at combating poverty and inequality, as well as improving the living conditions of the vulnerable and those in a position of social exclusion.

The agreement focuses on two specific actions. Firstly, cooperation in the provision of attention to people in a situation of vulnerability or exclusion who approach the company on matters related to the payment of water charges. As part of its social responsibility policy, Aqualia undertakes to study each case, provided that it is endorsed by Cáritas and a Municipal Social Services report. In addition, Aqualia will make an annual donation to Cáritas of an amount equivalent to to the water bills of the institution’s centres located in just under eighty towns covered by the agreement, in which Aqualia provides services.

Aqualia will pay the entire water bill, including items not related to the company’s activity (such as sewage, refuse and regional levies, etc.) The donation will be effected in February of each year.
