Professionals in the field of biogas, biomethane and other renewable gases are looking forward to the most important events of 2022, the 2nd Renewable Gas Exhibiton and the 15th International Bioenergy Congress, which will take place in Valladolid, on October 5 and 6. The events are being organised by AVEBIOM, together with technology partner, AEBIG.
La Vicepresidenta Tercera del Gobierno y Ministra para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico, Teresa Ribera, ha inaugurado en Lloseta (Mallorca) la primera planta industrial de hidrógeno renovable de España, dentro del proyecto Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca, liderado por Enagás y ACCIONA Energía, con la participación de CEMEX e IDAE.  Han participado en el acto de inauguración la Presidenta del Govern de les Illes Balears, Francina Armengol, el Vicepresidente del Govern de les Illes Balears, Juan Pedro Yllanes, el Presidente de ACCIONA, Jose Manuel Entrecanales, el Consejero Delegado de Enagás, Arturo Gonzalo, y el Director Ejecutivo del Clean Hydrogen Partnership, Bart Biebuyck.  Además, la Vicepresidenta ha estado acompañada por la Ministra de Industria, Comercio y Turismo, Reyes Maroto y el Director General de IDAE, Joan Groizard, y han asistido además el Presidente de CEMEX para EMEA, Sergio Menéndez Medina, el Consejero Delegado de ACCIONA Energía, Rafael Mateo, el Consejero Delegado de Redexis, Fidel López Soria, y la Vicepresidenta y Chief Sustainability Officer del Grupo Iberostar, Gloria Fluxá.  PUESTA EN MARCHA DE LA PLANTA DE LLOSETA El pasado mes de diciembre, la planta ya inició las pruebas de puesta en marcha, generando las primeras moléculas de hidrogeno renovable y posicionándose así como el primer proyecto de generación de hidrógeno verde a escala industrial en España.  La producción industrial de hidrógeno renovable en la planta se realizará de manera gradual y a medida que estén disponibles las infraestructuras y equipamientos para su consumo dentro del proyecto subvencionado por la Unión Europea Green Hysland, del que Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca forma parte.   El proyecto Green Hysland, coordinado por Enagás, apoya el despliegue de las infraestructuras necesarias para construir un ecosistema de hidrógeno renovable en la isla de Mallorca, y ayuda a alcanzar los objetivos medioambientales marcados por el del Govern de les Illes Balears en las islas. La Unión Europea ha comprometido 10 millones de euros en su ejecución a través del Clean Hydrogen Partnership.  Esta inversión europea, que está en línea con la nueva Estrategia de Hidrógeno de la UE y con la “Hoja de Ruta del Hidrógeno: una apuesta por el hidrógeno renovable” del Gobierno de España, supone la segunda mayor subvención concedida por este organismo a un proyecto de hidrógeno verde y la primera a un país mediterráneo.  En palabras de la Vicepresidenta del Gobierno y Ministra para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico, Teresa Ribera, “este proyecto pionero inaugura un desarrollo tecnológico que será muy relevante en los próximos años, para sustituir el gas de origen fósil por gases renovables, como el biogás, el biometano, y por hidrógeno obtenido con energías renovables. Gracias a estos avances, que estamos impulsado con el PERTE ERHA, reduciremos nuestra dependencia de las importaciones de hidrocarburos, ofreceremos una solución para la descarbonización de sectores difíciles de electrificar, como la industria o el transporte pesado, y crearemos nuevas empresas y nuevos empleos de calidad. Ahora, más que nunca, debemos activar todos los resortes para ganar soberanía energética, y las energías renovables van a tener un papel determinante. Y entre ellas, el hidrógeno constituye una apuesta estratégica de país”.  La Presidenta del Govern de les Illes Balears, Francina Armengol, ha destacado que “con este proyecto, las Balears continúan situándose a la vanguardia de la transición energética en España y siguen marcando el paso igual que ya hicieron con normativas pioneras como la ley de residuos, que suprimió los plásticos de un solo uso, o la ley de cambio climático”. Además, la presidenta ha defendido el proyecto Power to Green como un ejemplo “de la transformación del modelo económico y social que están impulsando las islas, un modelo más diverso, más resiliente y más sostenible”.  El Presidente de ACCIONA, Jose Manuel Entrecanales, ha señalado que "el hidrógeno verde es una oportunidad industrial y económica para España y una pieza fundamental en la transición energética global. La colaboración público-privada en este proyecto es un modelo de referencia de cómo aprovechar esa oportunidad. El proyecto de Mallorca contribuirá a la madurez tecnológica del hidrógeno renovable, imprescindible para dar un salto cualitativo en la descarbonización”.  Según Arturo Gonzalo, Consejero Delegado de Enagás, “en el actual contexto global, un proyecto como Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca tiene más sentido que nunca como ejemplo de colaboración público-privada para contribuir a la descarbonización y a una transición justa, y también para reducir la dependencia energética. La producción en Mallorca de las primeras moléculas de hidrógeno renovable marca un hito en España y en Europa como proyecto pionero de la iniciativa Green Hysland”.  Por su parte, el Director Ejecutivo del Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, Bart Biebuyck, ha añadido que “El proyecto Green Hysland en la isla de Mallorca es un ejemplo perfecto de cómo el hidrógeno y la tecnología de pilas de combustible pueden contribuir eficazmente a la descarbonización de las islas europeas. Con nuestro apoyo de 10 millones de euros, estamos orgullosos de que el primer ecosistema de hidrógeno en el sur de Europa se haga realidad y estamos convencidos de que servirá como modelo para valles de hidrógeno similares en toda Europa”.  ELECTROLIZADOR YA OPERATIVO Como parte troncal del proyecto, el electrolizador que produce hidrógeno renovable ya ha completado las pruebas técnicas de puesta en marcha. Una vez que esté plenamente operativo cuando se complete el despliegue de las infraestructuras para su consumo, tendrá una producción de al menos 300 toneladas de hidrógeno renovable anuales.  La electricidad renovable necesaria para alimentar el electrolizador estará garantizada por las plantas fotovoltaicas de Lloseta (8,5MW) y Petra (5,85MW). La plataforma GreenH2Chain, desarrollada por ACCIONA Energía, acreditará mediante tecnología blockchain que el hidrógeno obtenido en la planta es 100% renovable.  USOS DEL HIDRÓGENO VERDE EN MALLORCA Una vez el ecosistema de hidrógeno verde en Mallorca esté plenamente implementado, el objetivo es reducir las emisiones de CO2 de la isla en hasta 21.000 toneladas al año. Parte del hidrógeno verde se transportará a través del primer hidroducto de España, que Redexis construirá en la isla, y que podrá ser inyectado en la red de distribución de gas natural de la que la compañía dispone en Palma de Mallorca, con lo que contribuye a la descarbonización de los consumos insulares. Actualmente, se está terminando la fase de tramitación administrativa y la compañía podrá iniciar la construcción del mismo en el segundo trimestre del año.  El hidrógeno verde tendrá múltiples aplicaciones en la isla de Mallorca como el suministro de combustible limpio a flotas de autobuses, la generación de calor y energía eléctrica para edificios comerciales y públicos y la creación de una estación de abastecimiento.  También el sector empresarial se está sumando al despliegue de este ecosistema de energía limpia con acuerdos como el alcanzado con el grupo hotelero Iberostar para sustituir parte de su consumo de gas natural por hidrógeno renovable.  Otros sectores económicos industriales, de movilidad, entidades públicas y privadas se sumarán previsiblemente al uso de esta energía renovable, afianzando el proyecto de energía renovable de Mallorca, así como la reindustrialización de Lloseta y de su entorno con proyectos compatibles con las actividades ya existentes.  Mallorca se encuentra en una posición ideal para desarrollar el primer hub de hidrógeno renovable del sur de Europa, convirtiéndose así en el primer ejemplo europeo de una economía insular basada en el hidrógeno verde.  PROGRAMA DE GESTIÓN DEL IMPACTO SOCIAL El proyecto está acompañado de un programa de Gestión del Impacto Social en el entorno de la planta. Entre las acciones que ya se han llevado a cabo, figura la donación de 44 módulos fotovoltaicos al Ayuntamiento de Lloseta para autoconsumo municipal.  Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca desarrollará además una estrategia de inversión social basada en la educación, el fomento de la economía local y la innovación, que incluye visitas informativas y jornadas de puertas abiertas, así como una serie de convocatorias que se lanzarán después de verano para recibir propuestas de proyectos sociales que emanen de las necesidades de la población.
