The Pronet Group has signed an agreement with the Colombian Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development for the purpose of defining the country’s new environmental management model for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The Pronet Group’s extensive experience in Europe was a primary factor in its participation in this process of change in Colombia.

The Colombian Ministry of the Environment and sustainable Development has chosen Spanish consultancy company PRONET ISE to define the legal, technical and organisational guidelines for the drawing up of the WEEE Act in Colombia. PRONET ISE is a leading Spanish provider of consultancy services and management information systems (MIS) for global waste managers and treatment plants in the WEEE and other sectors. The experience and recognition built up over 8 years in the definition and implementation of national organisational models based on extended producer responsibility has led to the company’s selection for this important international project.

In this way, Colombia is laying the foundations for the implementation of general legislation in the area of WEEE management. This equipment is increasingly used by the world’s population and could become a serious problem for the environment, unless legislation is in place to ensure correct management of recycling processes.
