FCC Medio Ambiente has successfully completed the official trials and testing of its new municipal solid waste (MSW) collection truck. This engineering project, which implements electric and hybrid technology was carried out with the co-funding of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and the EEA Grants cooperation consortium. Siemens also participated in the project.
The MSW collection vehicle is perfectly suitable, from a legal perspective, for circulation and use in the network of public thoroughfares. The traction and drive unit of this hybrid electric vehicle are electrically powered at all times and the new technology implemented enables considerable energy savings, along with a significant reduction in exhaust gas and greenhouse gas emissions.
The new MSW collection vehicle will make the service provided by FCC Medio Ambiente more competitive and more eco-friendly.
