The operation is part of the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan through which Ferimet aspires to move towards a comprehensive business management from a global vision. Both acquisitions reinforce and ratify the role of recycling as the central axis of the activity of CELSA Group™.
Ferimet, a company belonging to CELSA Group™ that currently represents the largest recovery of iron scrap nationwide, has strengthened its business capacity with the acquisition of two recycling plants in Vizcaya and Barcelona.
The operation is part of the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan through which the company intends to move towards a comprehensive management of the business from a global vision and with the aim of promoting the acquisition of value in the different countries in which it operates. Thus, Ferimet has acquired, on one hand, a scrap collection and treatment plant in Erandio (Vizcaya) and, on the other hand, a metal separation and recovery plant located in Caldes de Montbui (Barcelona).
Francesc Rubiralta, president of CELSA Group™ explains: “This operation is excellent news as, in addition to strengthening our productive capacity, allows us to ratify the role of recycling as one of the central axes of the Group’s vertical integration strategy. Thanks to this philosophy, CELSA Group™ represents today the first recycler in Spain and the second in Europe, with more than 8 million tons of recycled iron scrap per year. In addition, our products are 100% recyclable and 90% of the waste we generate is recycled, reused and recovered”.
Vizcaya’s new facilities, together with the facilities of Ferimet Vitoria that began their activity last July, will work as suppliers of raw material for Nervacero and Global Steel Wire, while those of Barcelona will do the same with the Ferimet center in Granollers.
