Fish-Recycle: Supporting the transition of the fishing industry into a circular economy

In February of this year, CEPESCA (Spanish Fishing Industry Employers’ Confederation) will begin to train and provide advisory services on marine litter collection and management to over one hundred workers in the Spanish fisheries sector. In this way, the Confederation will promote the development of circular economy models and the diversification of fishing activities into sustainability-related projects. The CEPESCA initiative takes place within the framework of the Fish-Recycle project, which forms part of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment’s Green Jobs Programme (programa empleaverde).

The Fish-Recycle project kicked off on November 15th last and seeks to improve environmental conservation and develop circular economy models to support the sustainable diversification of fisheries within the framework of the blue economy.
