GRDF, SUEZ and Sagemcom are announcingthe creation ofthe WIZE Alliance,an open and non-profit association promoting an international standard for the Industrial Internet of Things. The association is bringing together major international players from the industrial and utility sectors in order to support the implementation of Long Range Wide Area Network technology called WIZE. Along the founding members, over 30 companies have already expressed their willingness to join the Alliance.

Specifically designed for mass roll-outs and hard to access objects, leveraging over ten years’ experience of field deployments, WIZE is used in low-power, long range, wide areanetworks. This bi-directional solution delivers secure information forIndustrial Internet of Things applications (smart metering, smart city, connected factory, smart mobility, etc.)and is scalable to operate around 169 MHz frequencies.

The technology, already proven all over the world (15 countries and 500 cities in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America), turns out to be very effective to deploy a network at a local scale. Today, WIZE connects over 3 million objectsworldwide and continues to expand, particularly through the roll-out of 11 million GRDF’s smart gas meters.
