Grupo FEM separates metal from 25,000 tonnes of ELT at Recuperaciones Emro facility

Grupo FEM has manufactured and supplied three permanent magnetic overband separators for Recuperaciones Emro’s End-of-Life Tyres (ELT) plant, which processes 25,000 tonnes per annum. These metal separators clean the rubber for reuse whilst also recovering ferrous metals.

The equipment manufacturer supplied three permanent magnetic overband separators with dimensions of 1030 mm in length, 630 mm in width and 300 mm in height. The units are strategically distributed throughout the plant to enable complete cleaning of the rubber and the recovery of the ferrous particles contained in the tyres. The facility is also equipped with other machinery such as grinders, screens and shredders.

Tyres arriving at the plant undergo primary sorting before going through the different aforementioned machinery, which gives rise to two fractions with different grain sizes: the shredded fraction and the micronized fraction. At the end of the process, two materials are obtained: steel and textiles, which are used as resources and raw material for future products.

Other Recuperaciones Emro facilities

The La Mancha-based recovery company also boasts other facilities, such as its engine fragmentation plant and an end-of-life vehicle decontamination plant. The three plants operate 24/7 and process up to 100,000 tonnes of materials per annum.
