Isabel García Tejerina makes two high-level appointments at Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment

On the proposal of the minister, Isabel García Tejerina, the Spanish Cabinet recently ratified the appointments of María García Rodríguez as Secretary of State for the Environment and Begoña Nieto Gilarte as the new Chief of Staff of the minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment.

María García has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Executive MBA) from the ESADE Business School, a Master’s in Professional Journalism and Quality Press from ABC, and a Master’s in Philosophy from the Paris IV-Sorbonne University. She also holds a Diploma in General University Studies and a Degree in Philosophy from the Sorbonne, and has studied Material Sciences and Structures at the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris.

 

Prior to this appointment, she was Chief of Staff of the minister of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Affairs, a position she also held under the previous minister, Miguel Arias Cañete.

She has also held the positions of Chief of Staff of the Regional Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Managing Director of the publicly-owned company Aeropuertos de Madrid, S.A. and Chief Advisor of the Regional Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Autonomous Community of Madrid.

The new Chief of Staff of the minister, Begoña Nieto, is a civil servant belonging to State Body of Agricultural Engineers. She holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration of Public Bodies.

Prior to this appointment, she was Director General of Rural Development and Forestry Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment.

Previously, she has held the positions of Secretary General of TRAGSA and Director General of Food. She has also been a Sub-director General in a number of departmental units.
