The school that collects the most waste in this non-competitive league will sponsor a tree planting. The campaign, which coincides with World Environment Day, will take place in May and June
#GreenLeague Junior is an initiative promoted by Fundación Ecolec to recycle waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in schools. The second edition of the initiative is now beginning at educational centres in three Autonomous Communities: Asturias, Murcia and Valencia. The campaign, which will coincide with World Environment Day on June 5, was warmly received last year, when awareness of this issue was raised amongst over 2,000 students and their families.
Colegio La Milagrosa (Oviedo), El Limonar International School (ELIS) in Murcia and IES 9 de Octubre (Autonomous Community of Valencia) are the schools participating in this non-competitive WEEE collection league, which will run from the end of May until mid-June 2022. In total, 6 waste collection points will be installed at the schools to promote selective WEEE collection amongst students and teaching staff. Moreover, Fundación Ecolec will plant trees at the end of the campaign, which can be sponsored by the school that collects the most WEEE.
#GreenLeague Junior Campaign
Through the #GreenLeague Junior initiative, the Ecolec Foundation is seeking to highlight the involvement of educational centres, and the awareness of their students and staff as conscientious citizens of the importance of correct management of end-of-life small electrical and electronic devices, both at home and in the centres themselves. To achieve this, such appliances should be deposited at the collection points created for this purpose.
