SIGNUS has presented the Annual Global Assessment Report on the 3rd Business Prevention Plan for End-of-Life Tyres, which ran from 2018 to 2021. During this period, all tyre manufacturers, and 233 importers and intra-regional dealers, accounting for 98.9% of tyres declared as being placed on the market to SIGNUS in the last 4 years, have implemented different measures to prevent the generation of end-of-life tyres.

Article 3 of Royal Decree 1619/2005 establishes the obligation for producers (manufacturers and importers) to draft and submit a Business Prevention Plan on the minimisation of waste generation and environmental impact to the Autonomous Communities.

The aim of the Business Prevention Plan is to identify mechanisms to extend the service life of tyres and to facilitate the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of end-of-life tyres. These plans are required to include waste prevention measures adopted throughout the different stages of the tyre lifecycle, including design and production, distribution, consumption and use.

This assessment report on the 3rd Business Prevention Plan shows that producers affiliated to SIGNUS introduced a total of 986 preventive measures, 41 of which were eco-design measures taken by manufacturers.
