Veolia Water Technologies participates in Technical Conference on Technological Applications for Sludge Treatment

The Spanish subsidiary of Veolia Water Technologies has announced its participation in the Technical Conference entitled “Technological Applications for Sludge Treatment” to be held in Madrid at the headquarters of the Professional Association of Civil Engineers on September 24th.

Veolia is one of the sponsors of the event and the company will also present a paper entitled “Moving towards a circular economy: A further step in the use of sludge as a renewable resource at 21st Century WWTPs”. In this presentation, the multinational specialising in water treatment will offer its vision of WWTPs of the future, which are conceived as bio-refineries incorporating, amongst other features, systems to avail to the utmost of the resources contained in sludge.

An outstanding example of the technological solutions offered by Veolia Water Technologies to achieve this goal is the Exelys™ continuous thermal hydrolysis process. This process enables optimisation of conventional anaerobic digestion to maximise biogas production and reduce the quantity of sludge requiring management. Veolia will also present its nutrient recovery process, a solution that combines financial, technical and environmental efficiency through the recovery of phosphorus from wastewater.

The Technical Conference, hosted by Enviro Networking and FuturEnviro, will feature the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Affairs, along with the leading companies in the sector. It will deal with sludge management from both technical and legal perspectives.
