Veolia’s Aquavista Plant digital solution chosen for Nosedo WWTP in Milan

Veolia Water Technologies has secured a new contract with Italian public utility Metropolitana Milanese SpA for the implementation of the company’s Aquavista Plant solution at the Noseda Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), the largest facility of its type in Milan. The plant has a capacity of 1,250,000 p.e. and implements a nitrification and denitrification process. It is the largest WWTP in Europe whose entire effluent is reused for agricultural purposes.

Aquavista Plant is a holistic digital solution composed of a suite of intelligent software solutions for optimization of process performance. It features a state-of-the-art auto-pilot to optimize the entire wastewater system, including the sewer network and the treatment plant. Aquavista Plant was installed at the Nosedo WWTP to optimise energy and chemical consumption as well as to increase the hydraulic capacity of the plant to treat higher flows during wet weather scenarios.

Aquavista Plant focuses on real-time automated optimization of energy and chemicals consumption, biological and hydraulic capacity enhancement, stable operation, and WWTP and sewer network compliance. It is suitable for small and large municipal and industrial WWTPs.

Enhanced operation and quality allied to lower operating costs

Aquavista Plant has been successfully implemented in several countries, with hundreds of WWTPs plants now connected and benefiting from 20% to 50% reductions in operating costs. It provides up to 40% more biological capacity and up to 100% more hydraulic capacity, improved WWTP effluent quality and a reduction in sewer system overflows.
